Marking Requirements
- The tags are externally marked with a 16-character NLIS number, which includes the following components:
- PIC (Property ID Code): A unique code for the property where the cattle are located.
- NLIS Code: Identifies Allflex as the manufacturer and the device type (B for Breeder, E for Post Breeder).
- Year of Manufacture Code: A code indicating the year the tag was manufactured.
- Unique Management Number: A unique number for each tag, which the producer can specify.
Application
- The tags can be applied using one of three applicators: Ultramatic Applicator • NLIS Ear Tags, UTT3S, or IdentiPlier Applicator • NLIS Ear Tags. Follow the application instructions provided in the brochure or contact Allflex for support.
Colour Requirements
- Breeder Tags (white): These must be attached by the breeder before the animal leaves its property of birth.
- Post-Breeder Tags (orange): These are attached to cattle that are no longer on the breeder’s property and do not have a breeder tag.
